21st Suffragettes Fish Tank Gallery Brooklyn, NY 2001
This Performance was made during the 21st Suffragettes in Williamsburg Brooklyn. I made three performances one each evening of the event. This is the third piece in the series. In this piece I was wearing a red antique slip that had text written on it covering the front. The slip was sewn to the bed sheet. During the performance I worked my way out of it, leaving the slip still attached to the sheet and on the bed. During the performance video was projected onto the large floor to ceiling concrete slab that was on the side of the bed. The video was intense visually and in its audio. The video image was a shadow of a hand moving into the frame, interspersed was an image of an ultra-sound image of a heart. The sound was an experimental piece created directly from the attached audio to video only altered through its video editing. The sound was directly connected to its source image. The sound was quiet during the hand movement and intense and electronic during the scan of the heart. In each piece I had Sarah Johnson/Moore assist me in a roll of caretaker.
