"iodine" Installation 1989 University of Iowa Intermedia Arts
This was my first student installation in an academic setting. I had been making my own environments for my Photo/Actions for a little while at that point. I decided to let this be an installation not a performance space. Yet it still had a live performative element, the perpetually turning electric beater on the bed. The walls were painted with layers of Iodine, the floor scattered with empty whiskey bottles, shelves and tables covered with small glasses filled with milk. The room had a make shift chair I found by its self sitting in the center of a small building on an abandoned farm. The ladder an important element for me an avenue of departure was also found on an abandoned farm. Room: 6H University of Iowa Arts Department. Instructor: Hans Breder
